mypdf

Files stay on your device. Most tools (merge, split, sign, edit) run entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Privacy

Privacy isn’t a feature we tacked on; it’s the default.

Tools that run in your browser

Most of mypdf runs entirely on your device. Merge, split, rotate, watermark, add page numbers, crop, organize, JPG/PNG to PDF: none of these upload your file anywhere. You can take this site offline and the tools still work.

Tools that need to send your file to a server

A few tools (compress, OCR text recognition, PDF/A archive format, Office to PDF, HTML to PDF, password protect/unlock) need software that can’t run inside a browser. For these, your file is sent to our server, processed in a private temporary folder, returned to you, and then deleted right away. A background sweeper also wipes any leftover files every minute, just in case.

Behind the scenes, we use well-known open-source software for each of these: Ghostscript (compress / PDF/A), LibreOffice (Office↔PDF), ocrmypdf (OCR), qpdf (passwords), Chromium (HTML→PDF), and pdf2docx (PDF→Word). No proprietary cloud services. No third-party APIs.

  • No file is written to long-term storage.
  • No file is shared with any third party.
  • No analytics tracks the contents of your file.

What we log

Standard request metadata (status, timing, size) for operations, kept short enough to debug failures and no longer.

Cookies & local storage

No cookies. The only thing we keep in your browser is a single flag recording whether you’ve dismissed the privacy banner at the top of the page. No tracking cookies, no advertising IDs, no third-party scripts.
